I LOVE playing rockin' songs on KHITS in the morning 'cause when I'm crankin' up the studio speakers (...and they are SA-weet!)...I visualize you rollin' down the highway 'equally cranked'! I've been up and down the dial in St. Louis since the mid 80's doing news anchor and talk show host gigs on the AM band. On FM I've been "Rockin' Ricky" (still am!), part of Chase and Sanborn , one of the brothers of The Sanborn Brothers, and the music stations ran the gamut, rock, country, oldies, soft rock, smooth jazz...and here at "The Rock Wall of Emmis" where I'm havin' a blast! This place rocks!

McCartney And The (almost) Helicopter Crash
Posted

Sir Paul McCartney narrowly avoids a potentially-fatal crash. It happened in early May when Macca and his wife Nancy Shevell were aboard a chartered helicopter which was attempting to land at McCartney's East Sussex estate. The pilot became 'disoriented' in bad weather, according to investigators with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch which catagorized the near crash as a 'serious incident'. The report says the helicopter came within two feet from disaster as it veered downward toward trees before the pilot dramatically lifted the chopper at the last minute in an 'executed go-around' to abort the landing on the estate. The helicopter pilot is said to have become disoriented due to 'low cloud base, poor visability and rain'. McCartney and his wife were reportedly told about how close they had come to disaster after the copter was diverted from their helipad on their estate and made a landing at a nearby airport instead.
