I LOVE playing rockin' songs on KHITS in the morning 'cause when I'm crankin' up the studio speakers (...and they are SA-weet!)...I visualize you rollin' down the highway 'equally cranked'! I've been up and down the dial in St. Louis since the mid 80's doing news anchor and talk show host gigs on the AM band. On FM I've been "Rockin' Ricky" (still am!), part of Chase and Sanborn , one of the brothers of The Sanborn Brothers, and the music stations ran the gamut, rock, country, oldies, soft rock, smooth jazz...and here at "The Rock Wall of Emmis" where I'm havin' a blast! This place rocks!

I'M Sleeping, said the boss!

During the live broadcast from Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa, the general manager of the property was at the broadcast site with me at 6 in the morning...I saw him again late in the evening, still in his work clothes buzzing about the resrot handling this and that, as a manger does. I asked him if he ever sleeps. He said it's nearly a 24 hour work cycle for him because he can be contacted anytime, as most of us can, via Twitter, email, text, phone...but he told me he has been forced toset his own limitation for his health and peace of mind. When he gets a message of any sort after midnight, he simply sends the reply "I'm Sleeping!". Then he told me that Germany has, or is considering, passing a law that employers cannot contact an employee two hours after they leave their scheduled work day. He said studies indicate that the stress on workers is actually make them less productive when they are accessible 24/7, speeding up the 'burn out factor'. What do you think of Germany's idea?
