KHITS 96 2007 World Washers Championship
The Rules of Game

1) The front edge of each box will be placed 22 ½ feet apart. The box is 14”X14” with at 4” center cup. Each washer is 2” in diameter and powder coated. There will be approximately 4 cups worth sand covering the bottom of the box.

2) A Washer in the Box is worth one (1) point and a washer in the Cup is worth three (3) points. (No point will be awarded for any washer on the lip of the box or leaners)

3) We will utilize the “Count Up” scoring system and all points will be counted.

4) All Players must keep their feet behind the front end (aka the Foul Line) of their Box at all times when they are throwing their Washers.

5) Each player throws all three of his or her Washers, then the opposing players do the same. Each washer must be thrown individually, not together. Washers may be thrown overhanded or under-handed. There are no “mulligans”, each toss is final.

6) The first toss of the match will be made by the team on the top of the bracket. The rest of the tossing order is determined by the score at that time, with the trailing team going first. If the score becomes tied, the previous trailing team continues to go first.

7) The game ends when a team achieves or exceeds a score of 21 points at the completion of a round of throws. A round is one player from each team throwing three (3) washers.

8) After exactly fourteen (14) minutes of play the horn will sound. At that point, the round that is in process will be completed, as well as one additional round (One player from each team in order). The official game clock will not be visible to the players. The purpose of this process is to eliminate clock watching and the possible delay of game tactics that could follow. The team in the lead at the end of this process will be declared the winner.

9) In the event of a tie, another round (One player from each team in order) of throwing for both teams will occur until the tie is broken. If necessary, this procedure will be repeated until the tie is broken.

10) An independent score keeper will be on-hand to keep track of the score. Both will agree on the scoring after each set of throws and the scorekeeper will update the scorecard.

11) Any issues not covered by these rules will be decided by the Tournament Officials.

12) Any team or player violating the rules may be subject to ejection from the tournament! One warning may be given, but egregious violations of the rules may call from immediate ejection, including removal from the grounds. This includes flagrant violations of the foul line or any attempt to delay play. Pace of play should be brisk and consistent throughout all matches. Tournament officials will be monitoring play and enforcing rules.
