Injury forces ZZ Top to scrap dates with Jeff Beck

ZZ Top has been forced to cancel a handful of its shows with Jeff Beck this summer, following an accident involving bassist Dusty Hill. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Hill, now 65, fell on Tuesday (August 26th) inside the band’s tour bus, injuring his hip and was in need of “immediate attention." ZZ Top's shows “have been temporarily suspended while he recovers.”

Refunds for the scrapped gigs are available at the point of purchase. Jeff Beck will play tonight, Friday, and Saturday’s (August 28th, 29th, 30th) shows as a solo headliner.

ZZ Top's management issued a press release, which stated:

Ticket holders for the following dates should retain their tickets, pending the possibility of rescheduling these concerts:

September 6 - Alpharetta, GA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park
September 7 - St. Augustine, FL - St. Augustine Amphitheatre
September 9 - West Palm Beach, FL - Cruzan Amphitheatre
September 10 - Tampa, FL - Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheatre
September 12 - The Woodlands, TX - Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
September 13 - Thackerville, OK - Winstar Casino

When we last caught up with Dusty Hill he explained that he and his ZZ Top bandmates -- Billy Gibbons, and Frank Beard -- don't face the same type of problems on the road that other veteran acts do, because they've managed to stay close throughout the years: "(We) have a lot in common. I mean, I think it has something to do with being a three-piece group -- y'know, you got two other guys to deal with, that's it -- and what they're going through, you're going through."

Updated: Jeff Beck solo shows (subject to change):

August 28 - Highland Park, IL - Ravinia Pavilion
August 29 - Salamanca, NY - Seneca Allegany Events Center
August 30 - Atlantic City, NJ - Harrah's Casino Hotel Atlantic City

August 31 - Mashantucket, CT - Rand Theater at Foxwoods
September 2 - Boston, MA - Blue Hills Bank Pavilion
September 3 - Columbia, MD - Merriweather Post Pavilion
