He might sing 'Born On The Bayou' every night -- but the dude is definitely living in luxury. The San Francisco Gate reported that John Fogerty, who wrote nearly all the classic Creedence Clearwater Revival songs, is selling his Beverly Hills mansion for a cool $23 million. The house on 2553 Summitridge Drive boasts "nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and 15,976 square feet."
John and Julie Fogerty did extensive work to the house, which also includes "three landscaped acres crowned by an imposing gated entrance which leads onto a courtyard with requisite fountain. Around back, a pool . . . patio, and spa with sweeping views join a guest cottage and children's playground. . . 16,000 square feet of living space with (a) two-story family room, wood paneled library with fireplace, home theater, second floor lounge with wet bar, and a garage with room for four cars."
IN OTHER JOHN FOGERTY NEWS
Vintage Vinyl News reported that for John Fogerty and Keith Urban's new video of "Almost Saturday Night," Fogerty asked fans to submit their own photos of what, "Almost Saturday Night" actually means to them. Fogerty's new album, Wrote A Song For Everyone, features high profile collaborations on Fogerty's classic songs -- including many of his Creedence Clearwater Revival standards.
John Fogerty told us that he's never been one of those artists that's needed to change around his song's arrangements in an effort to keep them interesting. He feels it's an obligation to perform the hits as they were originally recorded: "My own motivation for playing those songs, and particularly playing them in a manner that is very recognizable to the original recording. . . I just feel that because my career has been so herky-jerky, y'know, I've gone for long periods of time where I wasn't touring, so people couldn't see me. When somebody whose never seen me comes to a concert and there I am, he's seeing me for the first time, if I'm gonna break into 'Proud Mary' I want him to recognize it!"
Keith Urban, who grew up a major fan of Fogerty's CCR and solo work believes that he and Fogerty are kindred spirits. "I feel a real brotherhood with John for some reason. Maybe it's just that guitar-singer thing, y'know, but the first time I met him I had that real affinity with him, and it seems to have grown since, so I'd love to do something with him."
