FLEETWOOD MAC LAUNCHES 2013 TOUR TONIGHT

4/4/2013

Fleetwood Mac kicks off it's 66-date North American and European tour tonight (April 4th) in Columbus, Ohio at Nationwide Arena, marking the band's first tour since 2009. In addition to the U.S. and Canada, Fleetwood Mac -- Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie -- will hit Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Stevie Nicks credits nightly vocal training for allowing her to sing so strongly well into her '60s: "I have an amazing vocal coach that I've had since 1997. And I do, it's like 30 minutes, from, like, if I'm playing at eight o'clock at night, I have to be finished at five. So, from three to three-thirty, I do the first half. And then at four-thirty to five I do the second half. So, it's like 27 minutes and then, like 11 minutes. Buy, y'know what? It's amazing. You can't just walk onstage and sing two hours! So I had a lot of bad nights, up until 1997."

Mick Fleetwood credits Fleetwood Mac's fans for being responsible for them still being a top draw live act: "They're so loyal. There is a modicum of people out there that are very aware of the changes that this band has been through. In fact, it's part of our legacy, the fact that we have changed with the times and brought the band forward, changed it musically, and -- somewhat unbelievably -- have held an audience during that journey."
