Legendary New Orleans icon Aaron Neville is receiving raves for his new album, My True Story, which was co-produced by Keith Richards and longtime Rolling Stones producer Don Was. Richards plays guitar on all 12 of the albums cuts, which revisit some of rock n' roll's most memorable early tunes -- including "Money Honey," "Ruby Baby," "Be My Baby," "Little Bitty Pretty One," "Tears On My Pillow," and "Under The Boardwalk," among others.
In addition to Richards and Was, My True Story, features such heavyweights as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench, Bob Dylan's longtime drummer George Receli, and guitarist Greg Leisz (pronounced: Lees).
Aaron Neville shed some light on the ease of the album sessions: "That was great, I mean, Keith is like me. (We) both grew up listening to the same music, y'know, we talk like we grew up on the same block. Y'know, when I talk with Paul Simon it's the same thing: 'Yeah, man, you remember listenin' to. . . ' 'Cause me and Keith are conversing, talking about songs for the part two (laughs). But, like one of the songs, he was doin' the solo and he was gettin' ready to do the solo while they was playin'; the track, y'know? And he didn't realize they was tapin' him. 'I said, man, you done the solo (laughs) -- come in!' So it was fun to watch him and Greg."
