Stephanie Bongiovi, the 19-year-old daughter of singer Jon Bon Jovi, was arrested on her college campus Wednesday morning (November 14th) on charges of drug possession. Stephanie, whose last name is the real family last name, and a fellow student were taken into custody after police responded to a report of an unresponsive female at Hamilton College who had allegedly overdosed on heroin.
Stephanie was taken to a local hospital to recover, but in the meantime she and 21-year-old Ian Grant were arrested after police found marijuana, a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia in her dorm room.
The two students were booked on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia. She will appear in court at a later date.
Hamilton College released a statement which read in part, "On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, members of the Kirkland Police Department arrested two Hamilton College students . . . In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation."
Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea have yet to issue a statement. Stephanie is the oldest of the couple's four children and their only daughter.
Bon Jovi the band is scheduled to release its 12th studio album, What About Now, next spring, with a North American tour set to kick off on February 13th in Montreal.
