John Fogerty has pushed his eagerly anticipated duets collection, Wrote A Song For Everyone, from October 9th to sometime in early 2013. Fogerty announced the schedule change under a news item on his website (JohnFogerty.com) titled: "Wrote A Song For Everyone Coming in Early 2013." The post stated: "There is an amazing group of artists who have joined Fogerty in making this record -- bringing their distinctive style to his songs. There are additional touches being added to the recording, including some new original songs and notable surprises. Check back here for further updates!"
Fogerty's song "Wrote A Song For Everyone" was originally released on Credence Clearwater Revival's 1969 Green River album. Since then, the song has been covered by Mavis Staples and Johnny Rivers, among others. The upcoming duets set will feature high profile collaborations as Fogerty and Bob Seger teaming up on "Who Will Stop The Rain?" and Fogerty and the Foo Fighters' remake of Creedence's "Fortunate Son" -- along with collaborations on both old and new tunes with Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, My Morning Jacket, Alan Jackson, and Miranda Lambert, among others.
John Fogerty will once again treat fans to full album shows of Creedence Clearwater Revival classic albums -- 1969's Bayou Country and 1970's Cosmo's Factory -- during his upcoming Canadian tour. The two albums will be featured on alternate nights of the tour, alongside Fogerty's other Creedence and solo hits.
Fogerty told us that he's never been one of those artists that's needed to change around his song's arrangements in an effort to keep them interesting. He feels it's an obligation to perform the hits as they were originally recorded: "My own motivation for playing those songs, and particularly playing them in a manner that is very recognizable to the original recording. . . I just feel that because my career has been so herky-jerky, y'know, I've gone for long periods of time where I wasn't touring, so people couldn't see me. When somebody whose never seen me comes to a concert and there I am, he's seeing me for the first time, if I'm gonna break into 'Proud Mary' I want him to recognize it!"
