Lynyrd Skynyrd has announced that they'll be performing on August 26th during events outside of the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. The show will be part of the fundraising event "Citizens Helping Heroes presents Southern Tribute IV Honoring America's Heroes." The concert, which is open to paid sponsors and their guests, takes place at the American Action Network Pavilion at Liberty Plaza.
On Friday (August 17th) Skynyrd will perform live in New York City as part of the Fox network's Fox & Friends' "All American Concert Series" during the 8 a.m. ET hour. The concert, which will be held at 48th Street and 6th Avenue, is open to the public. On August 21st, Skynyrd will release their latest studio set, Last Of A Dyin' Breed, their followup to 2009's God & Guns collection.
Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant considers himself to be a patriot, and says that the guys in the band all back the U.S. military and it's missions overseas: "No matter what, I'm definitely for this country, I'm behind our military, and the whole Lynyrd Skynyrd organization is. I'd be over there with 'em, y'know, right now, if I was called up. No problem. Hand me a gun -- I'm gone."
