PAUL McCARTNEY TAPPING AMY WINEHOUSE PRODUCER FOR NEW ALBUM?

7/17/2012

Paul McCartney is reportedly recording in New York City with Amy Winehouse producer Mark Ronson, according to NME.com. Ronson, a close friend of Sean Lennon's, snagged the 2008 Grammy Award for producing Winehouse's breakthrough collection, Back To Black. He's gone on to produce Duran Duran, Rufus Wainwright, and Kaiser Chefs. Last October, Ronson served as the DJ at McCartney's wedding reception to Nancy Shevell.

A source close to the project told The Sunday Mirror: "This week they went to the studio and started knocking about together to see what they can do together. Everybody's really excited about the prospect of Mark working with Paul. Paul respects Mark's knowledge and is wanting to produce a classic album with a young hip edge. And obviously Mark is over the moon to be working with a Beatle."

Paul McCartney says that although he's been asked to describe his songwriting process, he admits that he's afraid to delve too deeply into it: "Y'know, I think it spoils it for me to analyze it. It's magic to me, this whole process is completely magic. And I really always feel like someone's gonna catch me and stop me doing it for a living. (Adopts stern voice) 'McCartney! You're writing again!' (Adopts young voice) 'Sorry sir!' There's always that feeling that this is just too good to be true, so I don't wanna tempt fate."
