Queen's mini-tour with American Idol star Adam Lambert kicked off on Saturday (June 30th) in Kiev, Ukraine, according to Vintage Vinyl News. Lambert, along with drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May -- who both took vocal turns over the course of the show -- will play Moscow, Russia tomorrow (July 3rd) followed by stops in Wroclaw, Poland and three shows in London. Freddie Mercury's sound and image also played a part in the show beaming over the video monitors and speakers during integral parts of the songs.

We asked Roger Taylor if co-founding bassist John Deacon will ever perform as part of Queen again: "John really has opted out of the whole music business thing. He was done, like, being around people. He wrote us a letter saying 'I totally approve of everything you do and, um, can I have my share?' I mean, he's still a partner, so, y'know, he's there in that sense."

Taylor told us that his greatest pride is that 40 years on, the band and Freddie Mercury still resonates with Queen's die-hard fan base -- along with millions of new fans every year: "He's bigger now than he ever was. It's absolutely true, and that makes me sort of proud. And I think that is one of the reasons why. . . I think you come to a realization that it's really, that is what you are -- it's what you've done -- but that defines what you are, and be content with that, and make it good. And I'm very proud of the fact that, y'know, our music is still on the radio and that Freddie is still a part of popular culture and I feel that I've done something, then."
