Crosby, Stills & Nash kick off their second batch of sessions for their Rick Rubin-produced covers set today (November 2nd). This summer, CSN road tested covers of the Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday," James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes," and the Grateful Dead's "Uncle John's Band" in their nightly setlists.
We caught up to Graham Nash during last weeks's rehearsals for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concerts at Madison Square Garden, and in an exclusive interview, he gave us the lowdown on the eagerly anticipated album: "We did about three days with Rick Rubin to try and feel each other out and see if we enjoyed working with each other. We cut four things... CSN and I don't think Rick thinks that we have the take of any one of them. So it was three days in Shangri-La studios and another studio in Hollywood to try and feel out what was going on. Y'know, whether we liked this guy, or whether he likes us, or whether we can fit together musically and stuff. But we're seriously going to start on Monday."
According to Stephen Stills, prior to heading out on the road, the band recorded covers of Tim Hardin's "Reason To Believe," Jackson Browne's "Lives In The Balance," and Bob Dylan's "Girl From North Country."
