ROGER HODGSON HEADING BACK TO NORTH AMERICA

5/6/2013

Former Supertramp keyboardist, guitarist, and singer Roger Hodgson is heading back to North America for a series of summer and fall dates. Hodgson, who led Supertramp with co-founder and current leader Rick Davies, wrote such classics for the band as "The Logical Song," "Take The Long Way Home," "Give A Little Bit," "It's Raining Again," and "Breakfast In America." Hodgson left Supertramp in 1983 and has released five critically acclaimed studio and live solo albums since then. His upcoming dates bookend an extended European tour and hit our shores on June 23rd in Kitchener, Ontario and wrap up on October 26th in Westbury, New York.

Hodgson continues to perform his Supertramp classics in his solo shows. We asked him how he came to write "The Logical Song": "I had the chords to 'Logical Song' and I used to use them in soundcheck with Supertramp. I used to start playing them. And it's funny, I didn't think much of them. And then one day, I started singing and the first word that came in was 'liberal.' And then the song took shape from that. And I didn't realize what I was creating or what had been created, really, until it was finished. Luckily, probably for me, I didn't realize what I was creating at the time. If I thought, 'Boy, this is going to be a monster hit,' I probably would've frozen up and stopped the magic from coming out."
