Cheap Trick will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of their classic 1978 album At Budokan with two exclusive concerts in Manhattan and L.A. On April 28th -- three-and-a-half decades after the original Tokyo gig, Cheap Trick will recreate the legendary concert during a private set at designer John Varvatos' Bowery boutique, which now occupies the space of CBGB's. Ultimate Classic Rock posted: " is offering 50 VIP ticket bundles to this private show, beginning at noon on April 4th, that include tickets to the private show, a meet-and-greet, a signed commemorative poster, the Cheap Trick Complete Epic Albums CD box set, plus the At Budokan box set."

Two night's later (April 30th) Cheap Trick will perform the Budokan set again at L.A.'s El Rey Theatre with the show airing live AXS TV.

We asked guitarist-songwriter Rick Nielsen why the Japanese fans sound as if they're experiencing "Beatlemania" during the At Budokan album, when U.S. crowds were decidedly cooler than the Tokyo crowd: "They didn't care about the American record charts, I guess. They didn't care what was in vogue. We had some fun songs, but we had some serious stuff. We had hit singles over there."
