Wednesday, 4/16 --
Hello, friends of the oceans.
"How 'bout more beans, Mr. Taggart?" was the line I kept repeating all morning from Blazing Saddles. On Monday I kept repeating “pining for the fjords” from Monty Python’s “Dead Parrot.” Why? I’m not entirely sure.
John is sick of acronyms. But Laurie is still just sick.
John is also sure that the Tiger Woods surgery is the number one news story in our region.
On July 19th, 1993 the Braves acquired Fred McGriff in a trade with San Diego Padres. The next day before McGriff's Braves debut, a press box fire caused minor damage to Fulton County Stadium. After the fire was put out McGriff lit another fire hitting a HR to ignite a rally from 5-0 defect to a dramatic 8-5 win over the Cardinals.
We discussed the state of “Entertainment Tonight,” “TMZ” & the old show “Hard Copy.” From the Wiki: “In 1996, upon learning the connection between Hard Copy & Entertainment Tonight, actor George Clooney refused to appear on ET. Paramount executive Frank Kelly caved in to Clooney's pressure by signing a contract vowing never to include Clooney in a Hard Copy story. Nevertheless Hard Copy soon ran a story about Clooney & his then-girlfriend, Celine Balidran. That same year, Clooney organized a celebrity boycott of both shows, which was supported by Whoopi Goldberg, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, Frank Sinatra, Demi Moore, & Steven Spielberg.”
A reporter is writing a story on JC but instead of “we tried to contact Mr. Corcoran, but he would not talk to us” it is “we didn’t try to contact Mr. Corcoran & he tried to contact us.”
After discussing last night’s “A.I.” we played a song sent to us by Joyce of Michael McDonald doing “Always Something There to Remind Me” from 1968 when he was 16! (He went to McCluer High School, not McCluer North – at the time only one McCleur existed).
The Final two Busch Bash Smooshes for the week: The tube that connects the bladder to the body & Cards’ reliever Ryan would be “Urethra Franklin.” Luke’s suicidal brother & the first even number would be “Owen Two.”
We have heard something about Neil Diamond on August 29th at Scottrade Center.
I would tell you, the listener, about the discussion we had about recycling, but the amount of misinformation on the interwebs would confuse any & everyone.
To see the Snopes story about microwaves & plastic, clicky.
“The Great Pacific Garbage Patch” is an area of marine debris in the North Pacific Gyre, and is also known as the “Plastic Soup,” “the Eastern Garbage Patch,” “Gilligan’s Island” and “the Pacific Trash Vortex.”
JC wants to see a satellite photo of the area. But according to everything I’ve read the garbage is floating & bobbing, so it’s not sitting on the surface waiting to say “cheese.”This is the photo used to demonstrate the problem.

We don’t deny it exists. But we still don’t know if it is the size of Texas or twice the size of Texas. But we do know it’s not twice the size of the United States.
We continued our Four Seasons, Four Seasons, Four Seasons & Four Seasons contest. Jersey Boys is coming to the Fox.
Our prize packs featured four tickets to the show, Feraro’s Jersey Style Pizzas in Soulard & the grand prize includes an overnight stay at the aptly named hotel. Today ya had to know about paprika. (How it’s made, not that it was the offspring of Mr. Salt & Mrs. Pepper on “Blue’s Clues.”)
The JoY was Bill Maher’s “New Rules – Olympics.” The F4 featured the word “No.”
The Vault was Peter Frampton’s acoustic version of “Show Me the Way.” Finally, The Carpenter’s version “(They Long to Be) Close to You” was the theme to the original The Heartbreak Kid.
Don't Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern
