Friday, 3/28 --
Hey! Happy Friday to yas. Don’t let this happen to you over the weekend: click here.
Thank goodness, JC likes me. He couldn’t follow anything I said today. So I just stopped talking (a grateful nation gives thanks); although John couldn’t remember the days of the week or stop talking about getting one’s junk torn off.
Yes, JC knows that we already had Daylight Saving time.
The birdhouse at the Zoo was from the 1904 World’s Fair.
We were blown off my Max Baer, Jr. today. Maybe we should call him “Jethro.” Here’s what he said on being called “Jethro” now: "It's like somebody calling you a son of a bitch. If he's your friend, it's okay. If he's your enemy, it's not."
Iron Man comes out in May of this year. It is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard & Gwyneth Paltrow. We gave away action figures this morning. They are in stores now.
The baseball opening day show is happening rain or shine Monday morning.
John talked about opening day. When John sees the Blue Angels fly over he wonders, “who’s paying for this.”
John’s opinions before the season, position by position:
Catcher: Fine.
1st: More than fine (JC puts an * by him cuz of the elbow).
2nd: okay. We’ll see.
SS: He has something to prove.
3rd: John doesn’t know enough to say.
OF: John wants Ludwick, Ankiel & Schumaker with Duncan as a back-up.
On pitching: John thinks Mulder & Carpenter are coming back.
JC likes the catching & CF positions. He thinks if Albert goes, then the team goes.
Look for John to host the opening day festivities Monday afternoon.
According to Autograph magazine, Elvis' signature can be worth up to $25,000 to collectors. Here are the Top 10 most valuable rock signatures (although one has to buy the actual April issue of the magazine to see what the rest are worth):
1.) Elvis Presley
2.) Paul McCartney
3.) Aerosmith
4.) Eric Clapton
5.) AC/DC
6.) Bob Dylan
7.) Jimmy Page
8.) Elton John
9.) Eddie Van Halen
10.) B.B. King
Laurie saw lots of movies that open this weekend:
21 -- two & a ½ outta five Macs.
Stop-Loss -- three & ½ outta five Macs.
Run Fat Boy Run -- three outta five Macs.
Chicago Ten -- three outta five Macs.
Snow Angels -- three outta five Macs.
Married Life -- two outta five Macs.
We had St. Louis Magazine Executive Editor, Matthew Halverson, on the air with us today talking about their new baseball issue.
He mentioned this site, while holding his own against with JC.
The 10-second clip of a woman singing "Au Clair de la Lune," taken from a so-called phonautogram, was recently discovered by audio historian David Giovannoni. The recording predates Thomas Edison's "Mary had a little lamb" — previously credited as the oldest recorded voice — by 17 years.
Ya know what's a great sport for kids? Soccer, or even baseball. But in Missouri, kids as young as six years old are being enrolled in mixed martial arts. Although if you, the listener, get caught signing your kid up for an unauthorized ultimate fight in Oklahoma you can be fined $1,000 and get up to 30 days in prison. So white-trash your kids at home & not with our neighbors to the southwest.
Remember when Laurie starred in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change? Well, that show is up for a few Kevin Kline awards Monday night. Ms. Mac & her husband will be presenting an award, too. For more info, clicky.
JC wishes to say Happy Birthday to our friend Aleda from Travelplex. And I wanna say buon compleanno to all the people I know born-ed on Sunday the 30th: my wife’s cousin John, baby Lucy Sky (her dad’s a Beatles freak), my friend & former organist for your Saint Louis Blues, Geordie & much love to my mother.
The JoY was “Spam” by Monty Python. (Happy birthday Eric Idle!) The 3fA featured Joe Walsh (& our final pair of qualifiers for Ladies & Left Wings.)
The Vault was a live version of “Take Me to the River” by the Talking Heads. Finally, these were the Hosts of the “Hollywood Squares:”
Peter Marshall (1966-1981)
Jon Bauman (1983-1984)
John Davidson (1986-1989)
Tom Bergeron (1998-2004).
Don't Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern
