Tuesday, 2/19 -- Hello & welcome to the “Faux-Gram” (as our promotions director has titled it).

Yesterday, live love songs. All hits - if you, the listener, didn’t know those songs then you need a classic rock refresher course.

Today we Vaulted the following:
“Two Cents Worth” – Kansas
“Murder by Numbers” – The Police
“Intro / Sweet Jane” – Lou Reed
“Shouldn’t Have Took More Than You Gave” – Dave Mason
“(It's Been a) Long Time” – Trooper
“Arms of Mary” Sutherland Brothers & Quiver
“Queen of the Neighborhood” – Flame
“Ain’t Nobody But Me” – Supertramp
“Two Hearts Beat as One” – U2 (they’ve been around over 30 years with the same lineup, only ZZ Top has a longer tenure – original members & no breakups. If you know of anymore e-mail Mark)
“Albert Flasher” – Guess Who
“Blind Eye” – Uriah Heep
“Layla” – Eric Clapton (live in London)
“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” – Rolling Stones from Rock & Rock Circus

Yesterday, five minutes after I was off the air with Dave the damn mini-blizzard hit. John was out getting gasoline when it hit Chesterfield. He loved it.

The most expensive apartment in the world is being built right now in London. And it can be yours for a mere $200 million (according to www.dailymail.co.uk). The apartment is the penthouse suite of an 80-unit building of luxury apartments that overlook London's Hyde Park (sort of like New York's Central Park). The high price tag is partly due to the location. It's in a prime area of London.  But it obviously has more than just location going for it. The apartments in this building feature:
- A private wine-tasting facility.
- Bullet-proof windows.
- Purified air systems.
- A panic room.
- Access to an underground passage that leads to a nearby hotel.

On average, the apartments in this building are selling for $12,000 per square foot. The $200 million penthouse is 20,000 square feet.

We talked about our first radio jobs & our first “paying jobs.” Laurie sold jewelry. Mark & I washed dishes. John sold fried chicken. We three men hated smelling like fry oil & our parents made us keep our shoes outside they were so nasty. Laurie hated smelling like popcorn when she worked at a theater.

The tattoo artist we talked about last year who got breast implants in his leg has had to have them removed cuz they exploded!

The number one song in New Zealand last Christmas was a song called “A Very Silent Night.” It was #1 despite the fact that humans can't actually hear it – it can only be heard by dogs.

The song was recorded at a frequency that's too high for humans to hear. To us, it sounds like nothing. But dogs can easily hear it. Most dogs seem to like the sound . . . but there was one report of a dog that got so worked up when it heard the CD, it attacked the CD player. Dog owners in New Zealand bought 4,400 copies of "A Very Silent Night" for their dogs for Christmas. The CD has made $17,300 . . . and all the proceeds go to a charity set up by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Now that charity wants to market the song worldwide to raise more money for abused animals. (from Reuters/BBC) If you want to buy your dog a copy, then clicky.

The JoY was “Earache My Eye” by Cheech & Chong. The 3fA featured the J. Geils Band. The Vault was John Mellencamp’s “Rain on the Scarecrow” from Rough Harvest.

Finally, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ Hard Promises started a battle between the band & the record company. The issue was the album’s list price, which MCA wanted to raise by one dollar over the prevailing rate of $8.98 – Tom threatened to title the album this. “If we don’t take a stand, one of these days records are going to be $20,” Petty argued in 1981, unwittingly foreshadowing the latter-day era of CDs. Standing up for the long-suffering rock fan, Petty held firm and won the skirmish.
