Wednesday, 2/13 --
Hey, patient listeners. Everything has changed again. The live music is out and Mark Klose is driving the ship for the next few days. And we are still playing our Vault songs:
Mark’s first words were, “Dave? Weather?”
We started with “Sailing Shoes / Hey Julia / Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley” by Robert Palmer.
This got us talking about Mark & John playing softball with Robert Palmer. John used to look like Neal Schon from Journey and/or Sib Hashain from Boston. John is now lazier in his old(er) age and won’t change his black socks when he goes running after wearing them all day.
Ties should end at the bottom of the belt.
Dave heard a report that said “Life follows the letter ‘u.’” I pretended to understand, but I must be going into the bottom of the “u.” He also told us about his friend Glenn in Hawaii. To see his site, clicky.
We played: “Peace in Our Time” by Eddie Money from The Sound of Money.
“Change the World” by Eric Clapton from Phenomenon. Clapp or Clapton: What is Eric’s real surname?
Mark wants to be Eric Clapton. John would too, but as an entertainer – not as a person.
Laurie would like to meet David Bowie. I would like to hang out with George Lucas (he gets all my money anyway).
We also played:
Saga: “Wind Him Up.”
Eagles: “Saturday Night.”
Peter Tork was born Peter Halsten Thorkelson.
Laurie saw Avenue Q last night at the Fox; I’m going tonight. Do not bring the kids!
We also played:
"Chestnut Mare” by the Byrds. "Headknocker” by Foreigner. "Spaceship Orion” by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
"Jackie Wilson Said” – Van Morrison.
“Rosewood Bitters” – Michael Stanley Band.
Michael works as the afternoon drive disc jockey for radio station WNCX in Cleveland, a job he has held since the early 1990s.
Since 2001, the Greg Kihn Band has been one of the opening acts at the annual Kihncert, which is organized by San Jose, California radio station KUFX-FM (promotional name 98.5 K-Fox), where Kihn is the morning host.
Al Hrobosky came in to talk about the Orchid Ball on March 1st. For more, clicky. Or call 314.645.2422 & ask for Katie. Al & John speculated about the Roger Clemens hearing today.
The only thing the Mad Hungarian is self-conscious about is dancing.
Al’s going down to Spring Training next month and he is worried about the Cardinals’ pitching (just like everyone else). And we wish congratulations to Al on the birth of his grandson 10 days ago.
We also played:
“Say Hello” – April Wine.
“Sweet & Sour” – Firefall.
The JoY was “Weird Al” Yankovic parodying the aforementioned Greg Kihn with “I Lost on Jeopardy.” The F4 featured love songs, Body Worlds tickets & Rain tickets at the Fox.
The Vault was redundant because we’ve vaulted all day. But around that time, we played Alice Cooper’s “Generation Landslide” & “Long May You Run” by Neil Young & Stephen Stills. Finally, 10 starred Dudley Moore, but he only got the role after the film's original star, George Segal, quit the day before shooting was to commence, apparently unhappy at the amount of artistic input director Blake Edwards was giving Julie Andrews (his wife).
Do Anything Stupid,
