Friday, 2/01 -- Hi travelers!

If possible, then stay home! If not, then don’t get your panties in a bunch. Please, be safe.

John did his first break from the road. While Laurie was out again this morning, she’ll be with the boys (minus me, I’m on-the-air) at the Super Saturday Blood Drive tomorrow.

“Convoy” started out as a commercial for the Metz Baking Company. C.W. McCall was the pseudonym of William Dale Fries, Jr. with the music by Chip Davis. Chip later started Manheim Steamroller. JC knew Chip’s first wife.

October 27th or 28th, 1985 while coming home from World Series Game 7 in Kansas City, JC used a CB radio to piss off some truckers.

Yesterday Dave’s forecast was right about everything – except the first wave of snow hit a little early.

An unknown powdery substance was found on Albert Pujols' lawn this morning. We need another source to confirm it was snow.

John is “meh” about the Super Bowl.

Songs we played today:
“Gotta Go to Work.” by Butch Wax & the Hollywoods.
Mike Ditka “singing” “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
Terry Bradshaw’s “The Last Word in Lonesome is ‘Me.’”
“The LA Rams are Coming to Town”

Marv Levy was the head coach of the following teams (not inclusive):
1951-52 St. Louis Country Day (high school)
1978-82 Kansas City Chiefs
1984 Chicago Blitz (of the USFL)
1986-1997 Buffalo Bills

“Flutie flushed ... throws it down ... caught by Boston College!!! I don't believe it!!! It's a touchdown!!! ... Phelan's at the bottom of that pile!” was Brent Musburger reacting to Doug Flutie's Hail Mary pass to win an improbable classic college football contest between Boston College and the University of Miami in 1984.

JC met recent crime victim, Leslie Stahl, in 1987 at the Smithsonian for the premiere of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

In 1923 Yankees pitcher Sam Jones no-hit the Athletics, 2-0, beating Bob Hasty. Not until Ken Holtzman's no-hitter in 1969 will another pitcher record a no-hitter with no strikeouts. Ken still lives in Saint Louis, but last year he managed the Petah Tikva Pioneers in the Israel Baseball League.

The list of pitchers with no-hitters is here, clicky!

Yes, we spoke copious amounts about baseball on our football show. But that ties in with the trip giveaway we are going to announce next week. Stay tuned.

JC wants to know why all the new media has goofy names, like “Yahoo,” “Google” and “Jib Jab.” Finally, we didn’t do anything we normally do in the 9am hour – except the JoY which was Richard Jeni’s “Football”. JC said you, the listener, should see it, so here it is.
