Thursday, 1/31 -- Hello, dere!

Laurie is still out today; she’s in Chicago with the Jersey Boys. But don’t worry, “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” (That’s the Four Seasons song, not the Fergie song).

“Oh, the weather outside is frightful…”

My wife has conspired with my other friends’ wives to keep us from going to our regular Thursday hangout, because of the threatened snow.

Dave’s advice to young weathercasters:
“consistency.” Also, a tornado can happen during a snowstorm.

Remember, just because one can drive an SUV fast in the snow, doesn’t mean one should.

Cortisone is a steroid.

No rule exists as to how many cortisone injections can be given. Often physicians do not want to give more than three, but there is not really a specific limit to the number of shots. However, there are some practical limitations. If a cortisone injection wears off quickly or does not help the problem, then repeating it may not be worthwhile. Also, animal studies have shown effects of weakening of tendons and softening of cartilage with cortisone injections. Repeated cortisone injections multiply these effects and increase the risk of potential problems. This is the reason many physicians limit the number of injections they offer to a patient.

Next week JC starts acupuncture. So listen to hear how that can go wrong.

Since Laurie was out – more Stooge talk. See all fourStooges about a minute into the clip.

From the wiki: “Hold That Lion! is notable for a cameo appearance by former Stooge Curly Howard, younger brother of Shemp and Moe. He appears as a snoring passenger who the Stooges think is Ichabod Slipp, the man they are looking for. This was the only film that featured all three Howard brothers — Moe, Curly, and Shemp — in the same film. This also marks the first time Curly is shown on camera with a full head of hair, and his only film appearance following the stroke that ended his career as a full-time Stooge.

“Director Jules White remembers: "It was a spur of the moment idea. Curly was visiting the set; this was sometime after his stroke. Apparently he came in on his own since I didn't see a nurse with him. He was sitting around, reading a newspaper. As I walked in, the newspaper, which he had in front of his face, came down and he waved hello to me. I thought it would be funny to have him do a bit in the picture, and he was happy to do it."

Joe Buck said he loves the Marx Brothers. He’s calling the “big game” on Sunday. He says to watch out for New England’s blitz. Look for Joe in a Diet Pepsi spot with Troy Aikman.

The 1980 election “starred” Carter/Mondale, Reagan/Bush & Anderson/Lucey. Patrick Joseph Lucey was the independent vice-presidential candidate with John Anderson.

According to Forbes, Detroit, Michigan is the most “miserable” city.

10,000 germs are transferred when you, the listener, double dip.

Ham (August 1956-January 19, 1983), also known as Ham the Chimp and Ham the Astrochimp, was the first hominid launched into outer space. Ham's name is an acronym for the lab that prepared him for his historic mission -- the Holloman Aerospace Medical Center -- located at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. He passed all flying tests with flying colors. “A bruised nose,” as noted the May 1961 National Geographic article where a photo of the chimp's return appeared, “was Ham's only injury.”

We had Nick Griffin from the Jameson’s National Comedy Tour (this weekend at the Westport Funny Bone) in-studio this morning. His Comedy Central special debuts in March.

The JoY was Nick Griffin’s first “Late Show” appearance. The 3fA featured Huey Lewis, the News & our Stars on Ice tickets. Finally, Nolan Ryan did commercials for Advil.
