Wednesday, 12/12 --
Hi to everyone who went to the late hockey game last night.
I saw two out of the three other Showgram spouses at the hockey game last night. (John’s wife isn’t allowed out after 7pm.) Laurie’s husband came to my music booth between periods and I got to hang out with “Triple C” after the game. I came home to find two women in my bed – my wife & daughter were having a “snuggle party.”
Our Christmas songs today: “Long Haired Country Elf” and “Takin’ Care of Christmas.”
Our 12 Days of Christmas continued this morning. For Day Five, Susan won $3863.99 worth of stuff by knowing:
Travelodge in Europe is giving out free nights to people named Mary & Joseph around Christmas.
Post Office scanners can’t read square or red envelopes.
Here’s some Hoosiers doing a funny a cappella Christmas song. They are called Straight No Chaser.
George Mitchell is a former United States Senator (D-Maine). Mitchell is heading an investigation into past steroid use by Major League Baseball players. To this day he is known to have held meetings with only two active players: Jason Giambi, who was ordered to meet Mitchell by Commissioner Selig in light of his public admissions on the issue, and one additional player whose name has yet to come to public light. It is expected that Mitchell will release a report of his findings tomorrow.
The 2007 Word of the Year has been announced. Merriam-Webster went towards technology this year with their selection. “W00t” is a hybrid of letters and numbers used by gamers as an exclamation of happiness. The official definition is: expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word “yea.”
On Saturday, January 12th Frank Caliendo is coming to The Pageant. The Showgram is the exclusive sponsor of the show.
Starting at the beginning of the year, we are starting the Showgram at 5:30am instead of 6am. We don’t have a name for this part of The Showgram. We came up with “A Celebration of Ignorance.” You all came up with “The Showgram Pre-Wind” and “The 40 Slowgram.”
John does more live commercials than … well, everyone.
From Variety: Brian Wilson, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Cliff Williams of AC/DC, Micky Dolenz of The Monkees and Elliot Easton of The Cars are among the artists taking part in the Hollywood edition of Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp from Feb. 15 to 18. The Hollywood camp will be held at a major studio and will culminate in a live concert at House of Blues. I wanna wish a Happy Birthday to my friend Mike Trueman, former & part-time lead singer from Radio Star (the local 80s-themed band).
The JoY was both Denis Leary’s & Mr. Garrison’s “Merry F-in’ Christmas.” The F4 was Beatmas by the Rubber Band (look for it on iTunes) and featured tickets to Rain at the Fox in March & Body Worlds at the Science Center. The Vault was “Christmas Wrapping” by the Waitresses. Finally, Susan Powter said “Stop the Insanity!”
