Hi. JC’s father touched many lives. He’s received hundreds of calls & e-mails and he thanks you. He spoke to his father every Sunday at 9:30am.
James Frances Corcoran, 85, long time resident of Chicago's Garfield Ridge neighborhood, died November 21, 2007. He was a Veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Air Force. As a teen, he was a member of the Chicago V.F.W. Post 450 Drum and Bugle Corps. He played with the Commonwealth Edison "Knights of Light" Drum and Bugle Corps in the fifties. He was a long time member of the Clear Ridge Baseball Association, as both a coach and a manager. After retirement to Wisconsin, he was a literacy volunteer, a member of the Black River Falls Theater Group, and the Hatfield Sportsmen's Club. He was a member of the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He was a lifelong Cubs fan, and the sweetest person in the world. He was a friend to all he met, and will be loved and missed by all. Services will be held at a later date.
As a tribute to his dad, JC played Warren Zevon’s “My Ride’s Here,” performed by Bruce Springsteen.
Both of John’s parents are still alive. Laurie lost her father about two years ago and then her mother had a heart attack. My father died in 1987 when I was a junior in high school.
Copying concepts is still around. “For 30 years, St. Louis businesses have trusted Copying Concepts to deliver solid, reliable document output solutions. They've turned to us for innovative thinking to improve output efficiency - and to help them grow. Their offices are at 6691 Manchester Avenue at The Scullin Steel Company Building, one of St. Louis' finest "art deco" architectural designs. It was renovated in 1985 as the headquarters for Copying Concepts.” See their website.
Laurie watches CBS News every morning from 3:30–4:30. JC wakes up and watches NBC at 4:30. Those times are AM by the way.
We asked Ozzie Smith, chairman of tonight’s Dining Out for Life, if he gets to vote for the Baseball Hall of Fame, since he’s a member. But members of the Hall only get to vote on the Veteran’s Committee selections. There will be 135 restaurants participating this year. We’ll be at Cyrano’s (well, three of us will and only two of us will have their spouses – which ones? Come join us & find out). Lean more here www.stlefa.org.
JC believes that the more people it turns out to have taken steroids in Major League Baseball, the better chance Mark McGwire has of getting into the Hall of Fame. Ozzie disagrees.
In football, a “screen pass” is a forward pass in which the defensive linemen are allowed to get through the offensive line while two offensive linemen run wide to a specific side of the field and then turn and block up field for a running back who takes a short pass from the quarterback.
Another offensive play is called a “bootleg,” or sometimes a “naked bootleg.” A bootleg play involves the quarterback faking a hand-off to a running back, then moving in the opposite direction for a pass or a run of his own.
The Missouri Tigers have three players named Chase on their team.
Five dating rules that will never change (from askmen.com):
1. Don’t talk about the past.
2. Don’t be overly enthusiastic.
3. Don’t lead them on.
4. Don’t discuss other people you’re dating.
5. Don’t rush things.
The 12 Days of Christmas starts in less than nine days. Laurie read off a long list of prizes. A list will be coming soon.
Dave has a love/hate relationship with weather bloggers. He loves their passion, but he hates their hastiness to go off the handle at the slightest thing.
Pepper spray failed to deter Ingrid Marie Rivera, who beat 29 rivals to become the island's 2008 Miss Universe contestant.
Pageant organizers said they hope to catch and expose whoever was responsible for dousing Rivera's evening gowns with pepper spray and spiking her makeup, causing her to break out in hives. Look at her, she’s pretty:
Curtis Armstrong played Herbert "Bert" Viola on “Moonlighting.”
Mizzou is on a roll and now the Show-Me State is smiling broadly, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri, which stands to benefit from the Tigers success. That’s because St. Louis-based Nikco Sports announced it is marketing a limited edition “Season To Remember” Mizzou full-sized football that includes a handsome acrylic display case. Lee Constantine Elia (born July 16, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a former Major League Baseball player and manager. He previously was a manager of the Chicago Cubs (1982-1983) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1987-1988). Additionally, he has served as a coach for the Phillies, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Baltimore Orioles. He is currently on the coaching staff of the Seattle Mariners as an "on-field consultant."
Elia is most famous for a tirade on April 29, 1983. It was a spring game against the Pirates early in the season and only 4-5,000 Cubbie fans were in attendance to watch their pathetic team get the crap beat out of them. The Cubs started the season a dismal 5-14 and the few fans in attendance showed their displeasure by serenading their beloved Cubs with a chorus of boos. After the game, Cubs Manager Lee Elia had enough of the Northside and the "nickel-dime people" who came to watch the Cubs suck in a sea of empty seats.
After the game the coach famously said, “Eighty-five percent of the [effin'] world is working. The other fifteen come out here. A [effin'] playground for the [rooster] suckers.”
The media is still yammering on about Steven Jackson’s comments concerning the music selection from Sunday’s Rams game. (I provide the music for the Rams in case you, the listener, weren’t aware.) I don’t blame Steven for trashing me; he was just frustrated and upset. For the record, I played the following artists at the game: Motley Crue, Van Halen, Todd Rundgren, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Who and Sammy Hagar.
Oh yeah, also: 50 Cent, Akon, Sean Kingston, Beyonce, Timbaland, Prince, Soulja Boy, House of Pain, Outkast, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, Lil’ Scrappy, Cupid, Rihanna, Kanye West, 2Pac, Young Jeezy, Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, Lil’ Wayne, Jay Z, Lil John & The East Side Boyz and at Mr. Jackson’s request, T.I.
The JoY was stand-up from Lewis Black. The 3fA featured Elton John, Freddie Mercury (Queen), and Chuck Panozzo (Styx) in honor of Dining Out for Life. And we gave away the new Paul McCartney 3-DVD set "The McCartney Years." The Vault was Sam Bush’s “The Wizard of Oz (Hey Ozzie!).”
Finally, Phil Collins starred in Buster (featuring “A Groovy Kind of Love” originally performed by the Mindbenders).

Do Anything Stupid,
