Friday, 11/23 --
First of all, a quick note from JC:
James Francis Corcoran passed away Wednesday evening at the age of 85. We appreciate all your kind words and thoughts over the past few months.
JC is on his way to Chicago & will have more to say on Monday.
Now, hi to all the crazy “Black Friday” door-busters.
“Grief to Dollar Ratio” is a term I coined to describe the balance between your discomfort and savings. To me standing in line for more than an hour (or in some cases almost a full day) to save a few bucks on a teevee isn’t worth it. I’d rather sleep.
Best of The Showgram for the first half of the morning:
Tips on Getting Your Junk Touched: First Date Tips (from last week),
Movie Reviews: Stephen King’s The Mist, Hitman, Enchanted & I’m Not There. (last week),
Star Trek prequel & Screen Test Question (two weeks ago),
Our Thanksgiving Plans & How to Extinguish a Turkey Fire (two days ago),
City vs. County & STDs (last week),
Chris Elliot Interview (two days ago),
Highway 40 Closing Predictions (two weeks ago),
A Trade for Scott Rolen (two weeks ago),
Televangelist & Sports Book Rackets (first week of the month),
Frank Darabont (last week),
David Chase Whacks Fans & Eric Mink (last month).
From the Galleria broadcast:
Black Friday is called that because they don’t go “into the black” until today.
Laurie wants clothes for Christmas. John wants a speedometer & odometer for his bike.
He also wants a new driver (for golf). I want peace & happiness (because when someone is a collector – like me - we buy stuff when we can find it or we might never see it again).
See John Malkovich as a Russian poker player in Rounders. See Gretchen Mol (also in Rounders) in only what the Lord gave her in The Notorious Bettie Page. Clarence was the Angel in It’s a Wonderful Life.
We spoke to lots of people from the Galleria, including the folks from ROAD (the men’s clothier), the folks from Solstice Sunglass Boutique & LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics.
We had prizes from Destination Sama, The Bedroom Store, Starbucks, The Disney Store, Bare Escentuals, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Vivid Smile, Headz n Threadz, Ben & Jerry's and Bose. And thanks to Fuzio’s & St. Louis Bread Company for feeding us.
We also interviewed the person that set us up with all this: Jenny Koch (pronounced Cook), the Galleria’s marketing director. She told us about “Pet night with Santa” Mondays at the Galleria. At the Galleria, Habitat for Humanity will gift wrap for you (for donating to a good cause). See their hours and other information at their website. Click here.
JC has a new house so he has no plan for Christmas lights. He is a white light guy, while “Triple C” is a multi-colored lady. Do I sense problems in paradise?
I’d like to wish Happy Birthdays to my sister, Mary Elizabeth, and my step-mother-in-law, Judy.
Finally, go Blues, Rams & Mizzou and have a nice rest of the weekend!
Don't
Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern
