Monday, 11/19 -- Hi. Take some cold medication and you, the listener, will remember as much of today’s Showgram as we do.

JC sounds miserable today. He has a bug that won’t go away. It keeps moving to different parts of his body.

Why can’t professional sports have sensors in the balls (like marathoners have on their shoes) to see if a ball has passed a plane, a line or a strike zone?

JC has a theory. It’s not always about the prettiest people, sometimes it’s about the “least ugly.”

To clarify, I want Mizzou to play in the National Championship; I just think something (or someone) will screw them over to prevent it.

“Dingy” is dirty (and also crazy) & “dinghy” is in the water.

From the wiki: Carol Wayne (September 6th, 1942 – January 13th, 1985) was an American television and film actress. She is best known for her 100+ appearances (1971–1982) on “The Tonight Show” starring Johnny Carson as the Matinee Lady. She did TV guest shots on “I Spy,” “Bewitched,” “I Dream of Jeannie,” “Love American Style,” “Emergency!” and “The Fall Guy.” After her death, Carson kept Art Fern off the air for most of the next year, and finally hired Danuta Wesley and then Teresa Ganzel to play the Matinee Lady.

In January 1985, Wayne and her companion Edward Durston were vacationing at the Las Hadas Resort in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. After an argument with Durston, Wayne reportedly left to take a walk on the beach. Wayne's body was found three days later by a local fisherman. After the discovery of Wayne's body, authorities discovered that Durston had checked out of the resort the day the couple argued, leaving Wayne's luggage at the airport. An autopsy later revealed no signs of drugs or alcohol in Wayne's system. In 2000, the series “Mysteries and Scandals” explored the circumstances surrounding Wayne's death.

Savor the Flavor is where local restaurants team up for charity with a special $25 “Prixe Fixe” Dinner Menu that benefits Operation Food Search next Monday, November 26. For more information, click here.

Natalie Portman is too pretty & too smart for any of us (except maybe Laurie).

Most common last names in the United States: Smith, Johnson, Williams, Jones, Brown, Davis, Miller, Wilson, Moore, Taylor.

From the Government’s report:
3.2 characteristics of surnames.
“While other surnames have strong associations with specific race groups, none show the kind of strength in association as with these Hispanic-related names. The name MILLER, for example belongs about 86 percent of the time to persons classified as White, while Whites make up about 70 percent of this population. BAKER is another surname with a higher-than average percentage of White ownership, at 82 percent. Among Black persons there appear to be higher-than-expected occurrences for names such as WILLIAMS, JACKSON, HARRIS AND ROBINSON, for example.”

Last names with greatest likelihood by race:
White: Yoder
Black: Washington
Asian/Pacific Islander: Zhang
Hispanic: Barajas
American Indian/Alaskan Native: Lowery
Two or more races: Ali

My former college has a new basketball coach. He made a Freudian slip back in 2005 that broke the hearts of homosexual chubby chasers:

Who’d We See?

Laurie: Friday – She did a photo shoot for the Veteran’s Administration. She’ll be in her pj’s in their upcoming catalogue. Saturday – She walked her dogs for the first time in five months. Then she saw her husband’s play Every Christmas Story Ever Told at the Playhouse at Westport. Sunday – More painting & housework.

JC: On Friday he did the Men’s Sports Trivia at Our Lady of Lourdes and raised $13k for Saint Vincent DePaul. Saturday – he got his car washed and saw KDNL’s Tim Tipton, who was on his way to see the Blues win in Nashville. That night he forced his girls to watch Home Alone & then they saw “The Best of Mr. Bean.” Sunday – he didn’t feel well, so he tried to sleep to make himself feel better. (It didn’t work.)

John: Friday – his middle daughter was gossiper #5 in the play Once On This Island. Then they had dinner at Steak & Shake (he didn’t like the smoking in the restaurant). Saturday – cleaned up his yard with his youngest. That was followed by a pizza party. Sunday – he rocked, napped, watched the Rams & had an average dinner.

Me: Friday – It was Al MacInnins night. We won the game! And after the game I headed to the Alumni room to say hi. Then to 14th & Clark to see my friends & I met listener, Roberta & her lovely sister and daughter. Congratulations to Michelle, my bartender at 14th & Clark, who just got engaged.

On a musical note – no more Ozzy Osbourne or Black Sabbath will be played by me at hockey games. Someone in upper management doesn’t like Ozzy & I hate hearing about it whenever I play him. Someone (else) in upper management also doesn’t like The Beatles, so you’ll hardly ever hear that at the games either.

Saturday – last week while eating pizza, my daughter asked “who put the Canadian Bacon on the pizza?” So we made pizzas from scratch (-ish).
Sunday – five members of my family celebrate birthdays within 45 days of each other, so sometime within that period we all go out for dinner. So last night 16 of us, not including my dad & brother (who were out deer hunting, looking for a wounded doe), went out to Macaroni Grill.

Next week we will be Dining Out for Life at Cyrano’s in Webster. Cyrano’s is at 603 East Lockwood and their phone number is 314.963.3232. Learn more here.

Captain Carl’s Buried Treasure was the red-inked note on our office door that reminds me to do three things before I leave everyday: 1. Have a replay for JC ready for the next day at 5:55 am. 2. Have a promo to the production department and 3. Let JC know what the Blarrrg photo is, if he hasn’t already told me. The JoY was Bob & Ray’s Slow Talkers of America routine. The 3fA featured Procol Harum. The Vault was “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison. Finally, Natalie Portman & Rosie O’Donnell were in Beautiful Girls together.

Don't Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern
