Hi! 3m-ta3! Maybe you, the listener, should try to text that to Busch Stadium’s message board to see if it gets through.
Do you need a scapegoat for all the traffic problems this week? Blame Daylight Saving Time.
157 Riverside Avenue was performed by REO Speedwagon.
The World Hockey Association (WHA) was a professional ice hockey league that operated in North America from 1972 to 1979. It was the first major competition for the National Hockey League since the collapse of the Western Hockey League after the 1925-26 WHL season. Although the WHA was not the first league since that time to attempt to challenge the NHL's supremacy, it was by far the most successful.
The teams of the WHA:
* Alberta Oilers (1972-79, renamed Edmonton Oilers in 1973) * Chicago Cougars (1972-75) * Cincinnati Stingers (1975-79) * Calgary Broncos (never played) / Cleveland Crusaders (1972-76) / Minnesota Fighting Saints II (1976-77) * Denver Spurs (1975-76) / Ottawa Civics (1976) * Dayton Aeros (never played) / Houston Aeros (1972-78) * Indianapolis Racers (1974-78) * Los Angeles Sharks (1972-74) / Michigan Stags (1974-75) / Baltimore Blades (1975) * Minnesota Fighting Saints (1972-76) * New England Whalers (1972-79) * New York Raiders (1972-73, renamed New York Golden Blades in 1973) / New Jersey Knights (1973-74) / San Diego Mariners (1974-77) * Ottawa Nationals (1972-73) / Toronto Toros (1973-76) / Birmingham Bulls (1976-79) * Miami Screaming Eagles (never played) / Philadelphia Blazers (1972-73) / Vancouver Blazers (1973-75) / Calgary Cowboys (1975-77) * Phoenix Roadrunners (1974-77) * San Francisco Sharks (never played) / Quebec Nordiques (1972-79) * Winnipeg Jets (1972-79)
James Gunn was in studio today talking about the Saint Louis International Film Festival and his new project, Pets with Ben Stiller. We could tell you more about the story, but it’s only half written & he’s on strike. He did talk a little bit about his ex-wife Jenna Fisher from “The Office” (she got the cat, he got the dog). He recommends The Naked Kiss by Sam Fuller.
His four brothers are all in the entertainment business and his sister, a lawyer, is married to an entertainment lawyer. In fact, his brother Mark is a writer for “Real Time with Bill Maher” and a strike captain out on the picket lines in Los Angeles.
Cliff Froehlich, Executive Director of Cinema Saint Louis, told us about this.
If you are a movie fan, then head to the festival over the next two weeks. For more information call 289.4154 or go to www.cinemastlouis.org.
Russia invaded Poland in 1982.
The December 12th, 1981 episode of "Saturday Night Live" was hosted by Bill Murray. The musical guests were The Spinners & Yale Whiffenpoofs. The Spinners performed "Then Came You", "I'll Be Around" and "Working My Way Back To You," and the Yale Whiffenpoofs performed a selection of Christmas songs.
The Yale Whiffenpoofs are the oldest collegiate a cappella group in the United States, established in 1909. Best known for "The Whiffenpoof Song," the group comprises senior men who compete in the spring of their junior year for 14 spots.
Will Whitey Herzog make it into Cooperstown? Joining Herzog on the ballot are fellow managers Billy Martin, Gene Mauch, Davey Johnson, Danny Murtaugh, Billy Southworth and Dick Williams. Good luck to the White Rat.
We got a letter from a 13 year-old girl, Amy, from Columbia, IL who had these 10 questions for JC:
Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: The money & the people he works with directly.
Q: What do you dislike about your job?
A: The other people & the equipment malfunctions.
Q: Why did you become a newscaster?
A: To have people wake up & hear information first from him.
Q: How many calls do you have daily?
A: It depends on the day.
Q: When do you leave the station?
A: That’s up to management (ha-ha). But day-to-day usually by 11am.
Q: What did you want to do when you were in 8th grade?
A: Exactly what he’s doing now, but he thought he’d be a weather forecaster.
Q: How do you understand people calling from the highway?
A: Sometimes we can’t.
Q: How happy are you?
A: Let’s move on to something else.
Q: What would you change?
A: That answer is too long to print here.
Q: What is the most unusual thing about the job?
A: That the four hours we are on the air is the most interesting of the day.
Thanks Amy, that was for you, but this is for adults:
FOX News Anchor or Porn Star?
JC’s buddy Tom called us live from Bangkok. I recommended Patpong Road & riding a Tuk-Tuk.
Laurie saw Sleuth. She gave it 2½ Macs outta five.
Accoding to Geordie Kroeger, organist for the Saint Louis Blues, Cameron Diaz gets punched in the stomach (& not in the face) on her wedding day in Feeling Minnesota.
We had Paul from Eleven Eleven Mississippi & Steve from Juniper Grill on the air with us talking about the 5th Annual Fall Food & Wine Celebration on Monday, the 12th. For more information click to www.stlouisoriginals.com.
The 3fA featured Joe Walsh. The Vault was “Goodnight, Saigon” by Billy Joel.
Finally, Fuzzy Zoeller had a birthday today. We looked for another person with the nickname Fuzzy. We could only think of the two bears. Fozzie Bear from the Muppets & Fuzzy Wuzzy (he was a bear, but he had no hair, so he wasn’t, was he?). And actor Fuzzy Knight played Private Fuzzy Knight in "Captain Gallant of the Foreign Legion" in the 50s. Also Fred "Fuzzy" Thurston (born December 29, 1933 in Altoona, Wisconsin) was a guard in the National Football League for the Green Bay Packers.
