Tuesday, 10/23 -- Hi to you. Go shawty, it’s my birthday. Exactly 37 years ago at 2:38pm in the former Jewish Hospital – I joined the party. I thank you, the listener, for all the notes that were sent this morning.

We wondered how many women went to college intent on getting a “Mrs. degree.” Laurie countered that idea with: some of her friends went to college to have sex and not to find husbands. JC & John wished they were younger, although I don’t believe any sex happened 30 years ago. (Another crappy job: free clinic STD inspector in the 70s.)

I have lived a very sheltered life (my family tells me this all the time). I didn’t go away to school. I went to college less than five miles northeast from my parent’s house. Then I got a job less than five miles east from that location. But I have traveled more extensively than anyone else here.

I took the I–170 “fly-over” ramp yesterday. Get ready to get on it around Tamm (one actually has to get on right underneath Hanley).

The most disappointed person in Saint Louis is Ozzie Smith. Tony LaRussa was thisclose to being outta here. Royce Clayton has been on 11 teams since he joined the “bigs” in 1991.

We had a long discussion about Tony LaRussa v. Ozzie Smith, Tony v. Whitey Herzog and JC v. John.

JC is getting married in less than 9,000 minutes. He has heard about some sorta gift he is either supposed to give or receive. Here’s what I found on a “Wediquette” site.

Here's an excerpt from the book: What the Hell Is a Groom and What's He Supposed to Do.

"FOR YOUR NEW WIFE. Exchanging gifts with your new bride is not mandatory. Talk to her about it and see if she wants to exchange gifts ..."

If do you plan to exchange gifts, here are some ideas on where and when from www.Frugalbride.com:

"It's traditional for the bride and groom to exchange gifts. Most couples still perform this ritual but not all. There are no set rules. 95% of the time, the gift is given before the end of the wedding day. You don't have to plan anything special. You can open your gifts when the 2 of you are alone or in front of others.

Here are a few suggestions:
* Any time during the week before your wedding, at home or at dinner
* The day of the rehearsal when you give your wedding party their gifts
* If your rehearsal is a couple of days before the wedding, exchange gifts on the day before the wedding
* Have one of your groomsmen deliver it to the bride on the morning of your wedding day
* After the ceremony in the limo make it your first gift to your wife.
* At the end of the evening in your honeymoon suite ..."

Both JC & John have planter fasciitis. I can’t find a simple definition for it, but basically it’s foot/heel pain.

Congratulations to Bob Garger from KSDK who won a lifetime Emmy.

Durex is hiring condom testers.

While looking for Mermaid patterns for my daughter, I came across Rock & Roll pumpkin patterns. I thought I’d share them with ya’ll. Here are some examples:

A poll taken in the United Kingdom by a company called Comfy Quilts identified the five worst gadgets ever invented:
1. Electric can opener
2. Waffle iron
3. Novelty alarm clock
4. Boiler system
5. Dustbuster

Dave was back today. He was not in South Bend watching USC; he was at USC not watching the game in South Bend. He just celebrated his 26th anniversary.

JC predicts that Chris Duncan won’t be in a Cardinals uniform by Spring Training.

Reminders: Go see Laurie in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (now in its final weeks). JC is hosting the Our Lady of Lourdes Men’s Club Sports Trivia Challenge on Friday, November 16th. To get a table or to find out more call Dale at 314.863.2704.The JoY was Jim Gaffigan talking about marriage. The 3fA featured the solo work of Steve Winwood and 4th Row Last Comic Standing Live tickets. The Vault was “In My Life” performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash from A Tribute to Nicolette Larson: Lotta Love Concert. Finally, Weird Al (who shares my birthday) was in a couple of the Naked Gun films.
