Hi all, and have a good weekend.
Laurie had a great word for hot teachers: TILFs. And for Scientologists: SILF.
If you, the listener, had an hour to live – what would you do? A Ziji Publishing study in England asked people that question:
-- 54% say they’d spend their last hour with love ones either in person or on the phone.
-- 13% say they’d get drunk.
-- 9% would have sex.
-- 3% would pray.
-- 2% would eat fatty foods.
-- 2% would start looting.
Here’s the Star Wars Pageant Trumpet Chick:
Back in school JC had nuns with full habits & men’s names. I had hippie nuns in earth tones.
“When I was back there in seminary school, there was a person there
Who put forth the proposition, that you can petition the lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer, petition the lord with prayer
You cannot petition the lord with prayer!” from The Doors’ The Soft Parade.
Jeff Richards was “Drunk Girl” on “Saturday Night Live.”
We had Phil Leckrone from Stuckmeyer’s. No peaches this year, but apples. The only thing that grows without rain is a cactus. He brought us gourds, giant mums & Cinderella pumpkins. Learn more about Fort Spooky and everything else going on at www.stuckmeyers.com or call 636.349.1225.
JC thinks that pot pies are unnatural. Pies should not have meat in them. Ladies, he’s getting married in 17 days.
Runnin' Down A Dream traces the history of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and is directed by Peter Bogdanovich. It includes interviews, concert footage, celebrity appearances and rare performances. But just so ya know, the movie runs more than four hours. That's why most theaters are screening it only once; see it on Monday, October 15 at the Galaxy 14. The DVD will go on sale Oct. 16 exclusively at Best Buy as a three-DVD/one-CD box set. You an also get the matching coffee-table book.
FOX canceled the "Buffy" sing-alongs including the Tivoli’s scheduled performance this weekend. Theaters have been told to yank the "Once More with Feeling" extravaganzas. Sorry, Mrs. the Intern.
The average teen spends $1,900 a year, most of it on clothes.
Michael Clayton: JC gives it five Corks outta five. I say four & ½ outta five Interns. Laurie says four outta five Macs.
We talked about the Springsteen “60 Minutes” interview (actually it was 90 Minutes the other day). See & read more here.
In a segment I think we should call “John Ulett Doesn’t Go to the Movies” we discussed the career of Jennifer Aniston. We want you guys to see Picture Perfect, Office Space, She's the One, The Object of My Affection, The Iron Giant, Friends with Money, The Good Girl and even Bruce Almighty.
Happy Birthday to Ryan Haney from the Whitehall Hotel, where Al Capone drank the first beer after prohibition.
The JoY was “Really!?! with Seth & Amy” about Michael Vick. The 3fA featured Rush. The Vault was “Candle in the Wind” from Elton John’s deluxe version of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Finally, Cher was half of the comedy team called “Sonny & Cher.”
Don’t Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern
