Wednesday, 10/3 -- (Mrs. The Intern Edition)
Good morning to the wife of the Scary Preacher in the Woods. Happy 61st birthday to Biff Henderson.  And thank you to the Bread Co. for the huge tub
of goodies yesterday.

Today’s breakfast, a more savory sensation, is Triple C’s homemade spaghetti sauce with salsiccia – doesn’t get much better than that.

Let’s start the day off with a friendly list of don’ts:
1. Don’t throw the wii remote into the TV screen.
2. Don’t ask JC to do math during the 6am hour.
3. Don’t use the wrong remote to open the garage so that you almost back out of a door that is still closed.
4. Don’t swallow any clever gnats.

Sporting his snazziest yellow shorts, JC is boarding a plane for the first time since spring training to go see Genesis in Chicago with Triple C before one of Phil Collins’ ex-wives offs him. Carl saw the show in Columbus and basically trashed it. But Carl has a strict view of the word ‘critic’. He thinks to give a critique you can’t like anything! One of Carl’s dislikes for the show was the omission of prominent songs from the set list. JC has the set list and argues some of them are included. Laurie commented that for someone who spends his life surrounded by music, Carl doesn’t seem to
like it much …

(From Carl:) "Here's a photo I took with my phone at the Genesis show in Columbus. I didn’t say they didn’t do two of the songs JC mentioned. I said Phil Collins' age showed on those songs. Yes, that is a critique - but a valid one." -- Carl.

Now that the orange pumpkin lights are going up in local neighborhoods, are you ready for Christmas?  Needless Markup has released its holiday catalog
for the season and if you are really, really, really good, maybe Santa will bring you a dragon topiary, your portrait painted in chocolate, a 305-carat
diamond necklace, or a private orchestra performance hosted by Regis Philbin (health pending!).

JC and Triple C went to opening night of the Rat Pack at the Fox last night and declared it magnificent! The orchestra is enormous. There’s singing, dancing and a lot of laughs. The writers must have looked at all the old film of those guys and pulled all the best stuff to include in the show.
Sinatra looks enough like him and sounds just like him. Dean Martin looks convincing but sounds a little more tenor. However, the Dean Martin mannerisms are practically channeled! Sammy Davis, Jr. is both amusing and entertaining. The three women in the show are in skimpy, unbelievable outfits and when they are on stage you can’t take your eyes off them.

Overall, there are scenes so finely choreographed that they look improvised. This show really captures the spirit of the Rat Pack and JC gives it a tremendous recommendation.  It will be at the Fox for the next two weeks.

Thank you Isaiah Thomas! He has freed men everywhere. Sexual harassment is not the same as men persistently firing on chicks to eventually wear them down until they get a date (the way Carl did with Mrs. the Intern when they met on a plane to London). Men are just trying to charm the ladies with the ‘delightfully obnoxious’ factor. For more information on this subject, refer to the Tom Brady sketch on SNL and Chris Rock’s bit which really
spells it out.

Debbie Stiperman from the soon-to-open Debbie’s Gooey Butter Cakes was on to promote her station at the Best of Missouri this weekend at the Botanical
Garden. They will be selling flavored gooey butter cake by the slice. She and her guru baker husband Kirk are starting the business with the encouragement of friends and family who suggested they take their great cakes to the next level and open a little boutique. What’s special about their desserts is their use of fresh, real ingredients beginning with their own, homemade crust and filled with real vanilla, cream cheese, and lots of
butter. Many of the store-bought versions don’t have any actual butter in them! Among their favorite flavs are Chocolate Chippewa and Devil’s Food Devonshire. Some of the pitfalls and lessons Debbie has learned through this new business process are that everything takes more time and money than you think. Also, be creative. Be patient. Have fun! She added that the city has been very helpful but things just take time. The store opens on
November 1 at 6483 Chippewa. She also urged everyone to vote for a Gooey Louey!

The Best of Missouri is at the Botanical Garden this Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am–5pm.

Happy birthday to Michael McNiff and Brock Hatfield.

JoY was Jake Johannsen. The 3fA was The Beatles Fab 4 – all songs about things to do with their British homeland. The Vault was birthday boy Lindsey Buckingham’s ‘Trouble’. Finally, the Screen Test was High Fidelity, the movie Bruce Springsteen did with John Cusack.

Don’t Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern
