(Mrs. The Intern Edition) Thought for the day … By the time we are old, every classic song will be used for some kind of commercial.
If you, the listener, didn’t happen to catch the Colorado vs. San Diego baseball game last night, you missed what will surely go down in sports history as one of the greatest games ever played. However, it will be tainted because the outcome was decided by a blown call by the umpire in the 13th inning at home plate. The end result was a Rockies 9-8 win, advancing them to the playoffs.
What’s your final memory of Old Busch Stadium? U-Man remembers walking away, dejected, as the Cards lost the World Series. Dave Green, the publisher of St. Louis Sports Magazine says he remembers Drew Barrymore dancing on the pitcher’s mound. Green was on to share information about the current issue of the magazine which is dedicated to the St. Louis Blues. Also, he has learned just how much the photography and layout design make the publication. Finally, go to: stlsportsmag.com to vote for J.C. to be the fan’s choice for favorite contributor in the upcoming December issue. (It’s the last question on the survey before you submit!)
Here's a photo of John hard at work at the new Busch Stadium.

For those of you who miss the days of soaps on the radio, ‘As the World Turns’ we bring you ‘Passions’ between the ‘Young’ JC & the ‘Restless’ Guy Phillips … Picking up where we left off on the air yesterday the a.m. drama continues as JC is getting complaint calls from other stations and asks, “Am I supposed to respond to this? No!” JC took his work home and left. And it didn’t get better from there. His power went out at home as he needed to do his piece for channel 2 and while looking for a way to electronically send his information, he discovered Starbucks (and that they charge for wi-fi!), and moved on Bread Co. where ‘the server was not responding because of port 25’.
Finally, with only one bar left on his laptop he got a break when he picked up a signal from the place across the street. He sent his info and it luckily got through! But the small satisfaction was short-lived as he arrived at channel 2 to find they are not expecting him and have the set decked for Steven Jackson and had to take it down for him.
Laurie’s day wasn’t much better as she left to view an 11am film screening at the Tivoli only to have her cute little red mini cooper hit on Delmar by a very nice young lady on her way to school … who had no insurance! And, of course, the fuel pump was disengaged by the airbag so it couldn’t leak any gas so her car wouldn’t start and was blocking traffic. Her auto club took a looooooong time to respond – long enough for two people who knew her to come running by (welcome to Saint Louis! You can’t do anything without running into someone you know!). The airbag injured Laurie’s arm and she spent three hours in the ER just waiting to be seen. On a positive note, everyone she encountered was really sweet about trying to help her.
What we have learned from this: 1) karma-wise we should be covered for awhile so today should go better and 2) forget what you learned in driver’s ed about holding your hands at 10 & 2 to drive. Now you have to hold them lower so the airbag doesn’t cause you to injure yourself when it deploys.

Happy Birthday to sweethearts Cindy Schroeder and Kelly Highland.
... Hi, it's Carl here, & I want to thank Mrs. the Intern for filling in for me while I'm at the 25th birthday party for Epcot. Here's what I did yesterday:

(L to R) Cinderella, me, Belle, Matt from Disney, Favazz - KHITS Assistant Program Director & Aurora.
The JoY was Joe Piscopo singing Sinatra. The 3fA featured Tears for Fears. The Vault was Crosby, Stills and Nash’s "49 Bye-Byes." Finally, before he died, Rod Sterling from "The Twilight Zone" did several PSAs telling people not to smoke.
Don’t Do Anything Stupid,
Carl The Intern |
