Wednesday, 9/26 --
Hi everyone. Let me be the first to say to you, the listener, “Happy Fall.” Yes, I know autumn started the other day, but I’d bet no one has told you “Happy Fall” yet.
Peter Frampton called yesterday at 10:02 am (after the show was over). We don’t think we’ll reschedule. He’s at the Pageant on Sunday. We were going to ask Peter Frampton about Almost Famous which is noted for containing numerous comedians including Jimmy Fallon (in his first feature film role) as the band's new manager, Dennis Hope, Nick Swardson as "Insane Bowie Fan", Marc Maron as "Angry Promoter", and Mitch Hedberg as the "Eagles Road Manager." Hedberg specifically noted this film in his act saying, "I did a movie where I had to smoke pot with Peter Frampton ... it was fake pot though: DO NOT BUY POT ON A MOVIE SET! But yeah, I got to smoke fake pot with Peter Frampton, which is a good story, its almost as good as smoking real pot with a guy who looks like Peter Frampton. And I've done that way more." We then featured Mitch later in the show (see below).
Every once in awhile people know it’s time to “go.” Tony La Russa’s time might be soon.
JC first got cable in the spring of 1980 in Grand Rapids. Laurie got it in 1981, even in Georgia she got it before all us in Saint Louis. John had it in his tiny little apartment in 1984. I got it in September 1989 (my parents wouldn’t pay for it and also the city of Saint Louis took forever to get cable).
Check out our Funjet Vacations exclusive two-day sale. We are giving away one of those trips on Thursday. Click to learn more.
We had day three of our NBC’s “My Name is Earl”/“The Office” contests. Our daily prizes: The Office Season 3 DVD; The Office Dunder Mifflin Snow Globe; BBQ Grill Set packed with an Earl Apron and 7 piece tool set; My Name is Earl Trucker Hat; Karma Keychain Bottle-Opener; NBC Koozie 6-Pack. The Grand Prize is a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion Notebook with AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile Technology TL-64 and customized NBC Comedy Night Done Right case. Watch those shows Thursday night and try to win.
Today John told us a lie about a day he was (wasn’t) late for work because he ran outta gas. He claims to have never driven a car all the way to empty.
To prepare you for the return of these shows here’s the “Free Earl” video:
We are giving away four packs of tickets to The Rat Pack (opening next week at the Fox) in addition to a gift certificate to Cutter’s & Company in the Chase and a copy of the London West End soundtrack by asking Vegas trivia. Today we talked about 1985’s Lost in America where Albert Brooks & Julie Hagerty lose all their cash in Vegas.
Hey Chris, actually one of the things that the soldiers are fighting for is so people like JC can say the things you find so offensive.
Laurie had a good question about Kiefer Sutherland’s DWIs: Can he still drive on the new season of 24?
In Tennessee, engagement rings have to be given back if the marriage doesn’t happen.
Average American male has an average of 13 sexual partners in their lifetime.
Average Canadian male has an average of 23 sexual partners in their lifetime.
Average American female has an average of 9 sexual partners in their lifetime.
Average Canadian female has an average of 10 sexual partners in their lifetime.
In this same survey: Americans say their favorite sexual position is oral.
29% of those surveyed perform fantasy play. 34% of those surveyed use vibrators. 88% made self love. JC doesn’t believe that stat; he thinks it should be much higher.
We had legendary comedian Robert Klein on with us. Laurie & Mr. Klein (as he was acting like her teacher in the interview) talked about having to be funny all-the-time. He told us about the pet-stained urine-soaked floors and the limber, Ukrainian gymnast-filled backstage of “The Ed Sullivan Show.” His new DVD is “The HBO Specials 1975-2005.” More information can be found here: www.robertklein.com.
The JoY was stand-up from the late Mitch Hedberg. The Fab4 was actually The Fab6 because we played the Golden Slumbers suite. The Vault was “Love is the Drug” by Roxy Music. Finally, Jim Caviezel (our Lord in The Passion of the Christ) is the brother-in-law of Saint Louis Rams head coach Scott Linehan; Jim's wife (Kerri) and Scott's wife (Kristen) are sisters.
