Justin Long, who also voices a character in the film, on the story: "Planet 51 is a movie about an alien invader who comes to this Planet 51 and discovers that there's life on this planet and the life is, mirrors very closely life on our planet."
Sean William Scott on working on an animated film: "It's just different. You're not acting opposite somebody else. You're doing one line at a time, you know, you don't really get to bounce off somebody, another actor in front of you, but that's what makes it so rewarding is because you kind of feel like a fool, you feel like an idiot, but then you also feel like a kid to because you can just be fun and be silly and have a laugh, you know. Do something, make a sound that you probably haven't made since you were eight years old."
