KHITS is in the same building as our sister station, the legendary KSHE 95, and as I passed by this picture I wondered if, back in 1989 when this was framed, did people wonder how enduring the Stones would be? how much longer they could go? Fast forward 28 years for the "50 And Counting" Tour and you've got the answer. The Stones are getting rave reviews for their hard driving energy that they've brought to every show so far. Wondering who the guests will be in Chicago...I'm hoping for Buddy Guy, maybe Ben Harper or Eddie Vedder.

Foo Fighting with Fogerty!

My morning show partner Todd Morgan recently posted a video of Bob Seger and John Fogerty singing "Who'll Stop The Rain" (look for his blog). Today Fogerty has released another video, this one a 'behind the scenes look' at recording "Fortunate Son" with The Foo Fighters. It's leading up to the May 28th release of Fogerty's duets album "Wrote A Song For Everyone" Fogerty will host a one-night only show to mark the album's release which will be broadcast live on the AXS TV channel on May 28th.

Be sure to enter the contest to win a trip to Sandals before the deadline this Sunday @ 11:59pm. We were broadcasting live as were about 5 other radio stations from around the country. During a golf cart tour of the Greg Norman Golf Course along the ocean, the golf pro brought a club and a few balls to let us d-j's hit one into the ocean. First up was a d-j from North Carolina. The golf pro teed up the ball, the d-j stepped up, swung... and we all watched the club leave his hands and fly into the ocean! So no one else, me included, got the chance 'cause the golf pro said he only brought one club, not expecting to need any 'back-ups'. Here's what the course looks like...awesome, just like the rest of the resort! http://bit.ly/13M1U60

Huey Lewis Interview Part 2 Funny or Die

Aside from talking to Huey about the 30th anniversary release this week of the "Sports" album, I asked him about his parody of a scene in the bloody film "American Psycho" starring Christian Bale. Bret Easton Ellis' novel of yuppie excess included an axe murder preceeded by Bale's rant about Huey Lewis and The News' music. Before you watch the Funny or Die video which stars Huey and Weird Al, listen to the interview which ends with the audio set-up to that famous movie scene, it'll give you even more enjoyment when you watch the Funny or Die clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk15H6PjBis

Huey Lewis Interview Part 1

Huey Lewis and The News are coming to St. Louis. Well, today he's finally heading back to Earth. But first he made this video. It's a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" . . . with some of the lyrics changed, so it's not all about being STRANDED in space. He shot it entirely on the Space Station.

Anyone 18 and older can submit a 1-minute video to a Netherlands company which plans to finance the mission by staging a global realty show with cameras documenting the training process, the blast off and the colonist's first year on Mars. It's a celebration of '80's rock, 80's 'look' (leggings and hair...lotsa hair!!), and the story is told thru the lyrics of songs we all loved from the 80's that you still enjoy today on our radio station. If you haven't seen Rock Of Ages, here's what you can expect to see while you enjoy the enduring songs of Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Journey, Whitesnake and many others. Before computers provided the 'wow' moments of movies, Ray became the master of stop-motion animation, the technique of moving objects ever so slightly in each individual frame of film so that when it was run continuously it would give the appearance of movement. Harryhausen began using this method for 1949's Mighty Joe Young. He was the Hollywood 'go-to guy' for special effects in the '60's. His work included Jason and the Argonauts in 1963. He also made magic with the classic Sinbad trilogy, Medusa was always a favorite of mine in The Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad. Ray's final film was the 1981 original version of Clash Of The Titans, where, indeed, he released The Kraken! It might be perceived as quaint in these days of Pixar and CGI, but he was truly a Mother Of Invention when Hollywood needed other-worldly effects back ...

Still Rollin'

Since the Stones kicked off their brief tour of America on Friday, I thought I'd link you to this original tribute to the 5 decades we've 'lived with them'.
