While speaking to students at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, John Mayer explained why he stopped using Twitter. The guitarist said that it hampered his creativity as a musician.
“I realized about a year ago that I couldn’t have a complete thought anymore, and I was a tweetaholic,” Mayer said, according to Rolling Stone. “I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”
Mayer has taken a technology-averse stance when recording his new album.
“Here are the rules for recording this record: No drum machines, no loops, no keyboards to start out with, no excuses, no breaks, no laptops, no nothing,” he said. “If you take a break, ...

The Best Way To Listen to Music!!!

I am discovering that there is a large group of people that love music but are not aware that they are not getting the best experience with it. The younger the listener, the more likely they are to be in this group. Here at the radio station is a group of younger people that love music and seek me out to talk about it. One thing I can’t help but notice is that they are unaware or untrained in the basics of high audio quality.
The reason for this is easily traced. Most of their listening is done on portable devices using headphones or earbuds.
I have been using headphones practically every day of my life for more than 40 years. I have used heavy expensive “cans”, cheap lightweight earbuds, and everything in between. I have listened through very sophisticated professional systems and I have listened through cheap systems. ...

Rolling Stones "Crossfire Hurricane" Documentary

The Rolling Stones' have released the trailer for their upcoming HBO documentary, Crossfire Hurricane. After seeing release digitally and on CD, the Beatles' original studio album remasters will finally be pressed to wax, with vinyl versions slated for release on November 13th in North America.
All 14 albums – the 12 U.K. originals, the U.S.-originated Magical Mystery Tour and the B-sides and rarities collection Past Masters Volumes One & Two – will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and will include original features like the Sgt. One of the things that I am very proud of, is reading the Hobbit on the air in 1971. (KADI) and again on KSD in 1991! Thus I have a special place in my heart for the Hobbitses and I am happy to post the trailer for the movie. Rich

During a promotional video for Korg keyboards, Queen keyboardist Spike Edney may have revealed more than he intended. Now speculation is running wild that the band will tour the world with Adam Lambert as their singer in 2013.
Near the end of the video below — interesting because it shows how many famous Queen sounds are created — Edney talks about how he’s used his new Korg. “I’ve used it for six shows now,” he says, “looking forward to taking it around the world next year on a big tour. Fingers crossed!”
Edney never mentions Lambert, but the former ‘American Idol’ contestant received rave reviews from his performances with the band. Roger Taylor and Brian May both enjoyed working with the 20-year-old. Fans also appreciated Lambert stepping in for the late Freddie Mercury.

IT’S a far different work world today than it was even 10 years ago. Technology and the economy have converged to create a set of priorities and preoccupations that are unique to our times. Here are just a few workplace and employment issues that are likely to stir debate, frustration and a search for solutions this year.
DEVICE BACKLASH As workers add more electronic devices, Web sites, software programs and apps to their arsenals, there is a point at which efficiency and satisfaction suffer. More devices can lead to more multitasking, which, though viewed by many as a virtue, has been shown to interfere with concentration.
More devices also harbor more vortexes of distraction, like Facebook, shopping sites and cute animal videos. Maintaining focus may well be one of the biggest daily challenges that workers ...
